Inspiration

The Montserrat model is inspired by the Montserrat font, designed by Julieta Ulanovsky in 2010. This font recaptures and reproduces the 1920s and 1950s typefaces found on street signs, posters, painted windows and café shelters in the historic Montserrat neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. Characterised by a great height, with short descenders and wide openings, this font achieves high legibility even in small sizes.

Description

Bioacetate: The frame is made of Mazzucchelli M49 bioacetate, 100% recyclable and biodegradable, without chemical agglomerates to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. Its natural origin is also revealed to the touch with a pleasant warm and silky effect.

Front: The front has been designed with the proportions of the font in mind, characterised by short descenders and wide openings that give the frame a soft, delicately sinuous and well-proportioned line. The opaline top interacts with the translucent base in an interesting trompe d'oeil effect that lightens the perceptual weight of the frame, and the double colour is enhanced by the special milling in the bridge and snouts

Temples: 'sail' model, named after the shape reminiscent of the tiller of a rudder. The perforated 'o', taken from the Good's logo, is reproduced at the end.

Curiosity

"As urban development changes this place, it will never return to its original shape and will forever lose the designs that are so special and unique. To design the letters, I rely on examples of lettering in urban space. Each selected example produces its own variations in the proportions of length, width and height, each added to the Montserrat family. The old lettering and canopies are irretrievable when they are replaced". Julieta Ulanovsky
